After their victories at the presidential and governorship
elections, the Lagos State House of Assembly has extended their congratulations
to President-elect Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. They also
congratulated their running mates, Senator Kashim Shettima and Deputy Governor
Obafemi Hamzat, as well as the Lagos Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, for his
re-election for the sixth time to represent Agege Constituency 1.
During the plenary on Monday, Obasa shared some insights on
the elections, noting that there are lessons to be learned and urged political
scientists to examine the situation. He advised those who are unhappy with the
outcome of the election to use the courts to address their grievances and
encouraged Nigerians to exercise restraint, patriotism, and avoid actions that
could harm the nation.
The Leader of the House, Sanai Agunbiade, emphasized the need for national healing, even though the general polls are over. Other lawmakers, including Yinka Ogundimu, Bisi Yusuff, Setonji David, Adedamola Kasunmu, and Victor Akande praised Obasa's leadership, which produced a Senator-elect and House of Representatives member-elect.
