More people are homeless due to forest fires in Chile.


 As a scorching heat wave sweeps south-central Chile, forest fires have killed 24 people, injured almost 1,000, and destroyed 800 dwellings in five days, according to authorities.

A region located approximately 500 kilometers (310 miles) south of Santiago, Chile's capital, has seen hundreds of fires consume around 270,000 hectares of land, fueled by high winds and temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit).
