Tribunal - I was forced to sign election result sheets, Atiku’s witness tells court

Retired Capt. Joe Agada, the first witness for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, testified in the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Nigeria.

Agada claimed that he was forced to sign the result sheet of the presidential election and alleged that electoral officers manipulated ballot papers and result sheets in collaboration with agents of other political parties.

He also stated that PDP agents were coerced into signing result sheets to receive a copy. During cross-examination, Agada admitted that he signed the result sheet because he believed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would withhold it if he didn't.

He further mentioned that he did not include his grievances against the election in his witness deposition on oath.

Another witness, Solarin Adekunle, the Ogun Collation Officer, stated that he refused to sign the collated results due to alleged electoral malpractices and inflated election results. Rep.

Uzoma Abonta also argued that the election was invalid due to irregularities, discrepancies, and non-compliance with electoral rules.

The petitioners requested an adjournment after presenting three witnesses, and the hearing was scheduled to continue the following day.
